About AAREA
The goal of The African American Regional Education Alliances (AAREA) is to emerge, sustain, and grow a regional collaborative network that designs and implements innovative educational services targeting the needs of African American youth and their families in the greater Bay Area region, by engaging in meaningful conversations and reviewing best practices for improving the academic success of African American students.

For educational and business entities, AAREA provides a customized banner that markets the member as an affiliate of AAREA and an advocate for the educational advancement of youth.
National African American Parent Involvement Day (NAAPID) Kit
The National African American Parent Involvement Day kit features samples of marketing materials, lesson plans, and event templates for schools and organizations who are interested in coordinating an event or day that encourages and celebrates the involvement of their African American parents/guardians. The kit also includes background information on NAAPID and options for NAAPID memorabilia.
Cultivate Brilliance Classroom Kit
Educators love this classroom kit! The kit features Cultivate Brilliance products and resources that acknowledge the brilliance in all students. These materials display positive messages and affirmations to students while visually enhancing the environment to encourage students to learn.
Guide for African American Families
The Guide for African American families serves as a resource to families for regional educational information, resources, and businesses. It provides key information and contacts to aid in maneuvering through the educational system. Features include check lists for college eligibility, teacher meetings, class visits; grade specific college prep calendars and activities; and events and resources for African American families.
Cultivate Brilliance Gear & Accessories
Cultivate Brilliance products promotes the brilliance of all people through clothing and accessories that feature a variety of motivational messages included: “Cultivate Brilliance”, “I Am Brilliant”, “I Am, You Are, We Are Brilliant”, “My Brothers are Brilliant”, “My Children are Brilliant”, “My Students are Brilliant”, and more.

AAREA distributes quarterly newsletters to keep members informed of AAREA efforts as well as information, events, programs, and resources that impact the African American community.
AAREA® Services
Advising on Regional African American Educational Issues and Efforts
AAREA advises members on their current efforts to empower, support, and acknowledge African American students. AAREA will review what is happening in a region (county, city, community, district, school and/or entity) and provide recommendations based on outlined goals and objectives.
Culturally and Linguistically Relevant and Responsive (CLRR) Consultation, Coaching & Development Services
AAREA consults with members to develop Culturally and Linguistically Relevant and Responsive programs and services that enhance the academic success and African American students. This includes customized professional development sessions and/or coaching for staff, curriculum development and consultation, as well as family and student programming.
Access to African American Family Network
AAREA has a network of over 1,000 African American families. Members can access the network to provide information and resources that are beneficial to the academic, social, and emotional success for African American students and families.

SuperSATurday Back to School Rally
The SuperSATurday Back to School Rally kicks off our annual public outreach Cultivate Brilliance campaign. This motivational event celebrates the opening of the academic year in a festive environment that includes entertainment, interactive activities, and free academic and college resources. In acknowledgement of National Obesity Awareness Month, one event, the SuperSATurday Fun Run & Back To School Rally, encouraged families to get active with a 5k /10k fun run and health resources. Healthy bodies = healthy minds! This event was fun for the entire community.
Professional Development Summit
This inspirational summit provides active dialogue and analysis on the status of African American education for parents and educators. In addition to featuring workshops and discussions exploring the issues impacting African American education, local and nationally recognized speakers review best practices and provide hands-on, practical applications of potential solutions and strategies. The summit also features networking opportunities and a reception honoring outstanding educators and community leaders.
NAAPID: Black to School Week
In honor of National African American Parent Involvement Day, AAREA assists in the coordination and encouragement of a week of activities and events aimed at enhancing the visibility of African American families in schools throughout the Bay Area.
African American Student Achievement & Excellence Awards
This annual event affirms the worth and dignity of African-American students, and acknowledges and recognizes the support of parents, family and community in the lives of children. In addition to students receiving awards for achievements in various categories, families are provided with academic and college going resources and information.
